This is more a reference for me so I don't get duplicates of stuff, which I'm prone to do ==;;; I nearly bought a second copy of Gakuen Alice volume 16 last time...good thing I didn't have enough money with me.

I spotted Penguin Brothers at Kino last week. They must have re-released it. I wonder what happened to Shiina Ayumi =/ She stopped publishing after Dice. As far as female characters in "Ribon" were concerned, she used to have the best characters =/ It's a pity.

RL friends are welcome to ask for anything off the list =D Just be warned that the majority of them are in Chinese.

...One day I'll list the books I have too. I don't actually have many, because my family comes from the philosophy "if you can read it at the library, why buy it?" Ahh, Chinese mentality, which includes the "if you can download it online, why buy it?" Support for the author's work is definitely not a good justification. Although if that were the justification I have no idea why I have Starman (Sara Douglass). WHY. What psychoactive drug was I on?!

It's surprising (or unsurprising, depending on how much time you're willing to spend thinking about it) that though most of Gundam 00's female characters are quite strong-willed, the only one who made a mention in December Newtype's character poll is a character who isn't the most important or hottest or cutest ==;;;;; Although she is very sweet and tragic. (Newtype is one of the biggest shounen anime magazines, by the way)

Sebastian is a bit of a black sheep considering that anime isn't really even shounen ==;

By the looks of the Newtype spoilers guide, it seems like Vampire Knight is whizzing through its plot to finish within 13 episodes. Cannot emphasise how GLAD I am of this. Just. Finish. ALREADY.

I'm so sick of her angst. She needs to go back to writing cutesy romance, at which she at least does not suck.

Nevertheless, I don't think I'll ever collect her manga again ==; I'll just wait for that elusive day when she releases her artbook. Her manga plots are beyond hope.

Am shocked that Obernewtyn made it to top 4! I mean it's good, but that good? ==; And "of all time"?? ==;;

So many of them with unrecognisable titles because I've read too many in Chinese Orz....

Majin Tantei Nogami Neuro, a name I'm never going to remember, sounded interesting from the synopsis, but never trust the synopsis.

A 2nd season of XXXholic was approved!

In other news, its counterpart, the incredibly tedious Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle was unceremoniously dumped due to CLAMP for once agreeing with their fans. On the brighter side, XXXholic's production company has picked it up to produce a very pretty-looking OVA called TRC: Tokyo Revelations.

The decision isn't surprising, not only because TRC anime is only half as interesting as watching grass grow, but because the Tokyo arc encompasses more than a decade of CLAMP's insidious plotting. Tokyo Babylon was first published in 1991, and in TRC we see a return of that young, wide-eyed Subaru. For CLAMP and for many of CLAMP's old fans, the Tokyo arc recalls a lot of (not-quite-pleasant) memories (namely: GET ON WITH X DAMNIT).

Should Kamui be voiced by Suzumura Kenichi or Seki Tomokazu? LOL!

Unlike TRC, the Holic anime's actually well-made. Ranks among the very few manga to anime adaptations I'm happy with. Too bad they cut all the Tsubasa references (due to licensing or copyright, most likely). Now that they're produced by the same company, maybe we can hope for TRC references popping back in? Especially since the two are bloody linked and Holic is becoming increasingly plot-dependent on TRC ="=

Anyway, here's a list of complete series of anime that I have. If anyone wants anything (RL friends only, sorry ^^; saves effort you know ^_~), just make a note somewhere.

............Yeah, as you can see, I haven't watched many things I have ==;;;;; I also don't have the "popular" series Bleach or Naruto.

The only two anime I'm still following now (without actually, you know, watching) are Saiunkoku Monogatari (2nd season) and Death Note. I recommend the latter~!

There's an anime called Ghost Hound that comes out in October, and it involves the director and scripwriter from Serial Experiment Lain and Kino no Tabi.

I'm so tempted to write one for fantasy, starting with the A is for Prince rule ==;

Too bad I haven't touched a book in that genre in ages. Unless we include Pratchett, but he's not really fantasy. At least not the Tolkien or Eddings or Goodkind sort of fantasy.

Was reading through a Chinese magazine yesterday and saw an ad selling Gundam Seed DVDs...and the guy standing on the DVD cover was clearly Heero Yuy.........

It's so damn persistent!

1. The materials inside the cigarette (tar, bunch of chemicals) are high carcinogenic and will directly stimulate initiation and promotion of cancer cells within the lungs.
2. Of the materials that could be absorbed into the blood stream, much of them will circulate and stimulate initiation and promotion of cancer cells all around the body.
3. The entry of highly irritable chemical substances into the airway stimulates inflammatory responses that become prolonged. Chronic inflammation debilitate the surrounding cell matrix and has a strong correlation to the development of cancer.
4. (This sort of relates to the last point) Smoke contains non-biodegradable material that become absorbed by phagocytes (a type of white blood cell). Because they are highly reactive and non-biodegradable, they often kill the phagocyte. Other phagocytes absorb the released chemical, and the vicious cycle repeats itself. Meanwhile, due to the highly destructive movements of the phagocytes, surrounding tissues are severely scarred. In the lungs, the loss of surface area for air exchange cannot be restored, and this reduces the capacity for oxygen exchange. Not to mention that some material deposists itself directly on the cells for air exchange, further reducing the surface area.
5. Tar immobilises the cilia, causing a persistent cough and a decreased ability to remove mucus and unwanted substances - including non-degradable substances, microbes and dust - from the airway. This significantly increases the chances of contracting respiratory diseases such as pneumonia and bronchitis.
6. Chemicals within the smoke promote the process of thrombosis (clot formation) within arteries, leading to atherosclerosis. Depending on the nature of such clots, it is very likely that these will result in a myocardial and/or a cerebral infarction. Better known as a heart attack and a stroke.

7. Write. Er. Maybe I should go and read the dictionary first, just to remind myself that there are other words in the English language apart from stuff like pyruvate dehydrogenase and acetylcholinesterase and lamina propria (that ain't even English!)
and SLEEP.......LOTS OF IT.

The must-read list of 2004 presented by yours truly (subject to change without notice).

Shounen:
1. Death Note - because L and Raito just transcend coolness.
2. Black Cat - great art, great characters...with plot lagging a way behind, but hey, it's the guy's first try (well, at an epic, anyway)
3. Bleach - a Jing Yong-style story: starts off slow and hesitant, but builds up to something unexpectedly but pleasantly complex.
4. Hunter x Hunter - for pure braindead entertainment. The characters are worth a look, and there are moments when it truly deserves respect...and a more responsible mangaka, maybe.

Shoujo:
1. Zettai Kareshi - NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!<3<3<3<3~~~!!!!!!!! says it all.
2. Fushigi Yuugi ~Genbu Kaiden~ - okay, I would normally not line Yuu Watase up for two top spots in a row, but I think FYGK has the potential to be something far more meaningful than its precursor. Err, not that it's exactly difficult....
3. Ouran Koukou Host Club - because it cracks me up without fail, despite all its (fatal) incongruencies.
4. Fruits Basket - falling behind in rank because it's draaaaaaaaaaaaagging itself through the Perpetual Marsh of Angst™ Forecasts predict more rain on the way. Maybe a hail just for the sake of it.

I'd line up Parfait Tic, Full Moon wo Sagashite, Marchen Prince and probably even Cantarella. The thing with shoujo is that they're all very audience-dependent.
