1. I will not bum on LJ.
2. I will not check my email every 38 seconds.
3. I will not check random forums every 62 seconds.
4. I will not bum on Neopets.
5. I will listen to all the recorded lectures and not random MP3's that mysteriously appeared on my hard drive.
.......
.......
It's a bit contradictory to have the resolutions in a post about an update ==;;;

Before the OMG's and you-actually-bothered's, this picture was scanned in November 2005 and the lining finished in December. Yes. I have been colouring since. It's so pathetic. (Although you may have noticed I've had other stuff done between that time, so it had always been a second priority project.)
Umm. There's more detailed explanation about the colours in the website (blatant plug).
For about the two people who care, this is NOT his original appearance.
The original Vivant is someone I don't want to draw - because for a guy who cannot even remember his original name, it would be ungracious to define his face.
God, I hope that's the end of my sore excuses to procrastinate. I've managed to timely arrive at a stone wall with both my writings, and I've exhausted all colourable pictures, and my artbooks are all full.
Yes, good luck to you too.

Date: 2006-06-11 05:47 am (UTC)Aw, that's easy. Hardly anyone posts during exam time...
2. I will not check my email every 38 seconds.
I get Outlook to do that for me!
3. I will not check random forums every 62 seconds.
Only livejournals and xangas for me... at the moment =P
4. I will not bum on Neopets.
Too late... I've just reactivated my account and scabbed heaps of freebies under the Magic Tree...oh, and a slice of omlette too!
5. I will listen to all the recorded lectures and not random MP3's that mysteriously appeared on my hard drive.
Thank goodness my lectures arent recorded... iPod all the way!
Hehe, best of luck with your studies!

Date: 2006-06-11 08:44 am (UTC)Originally I planned to colour this in Corel Painter, which (if I did it properly) would have a nice oil paint effect. But my Painter trial expired before I got around to actually start colouring ~~;;;
It's much harder in Photoshop to get the same naturalistic effect for backgrounds because the brushes and gradients and almost everything is much smoother.
So I ended up going with the fantasy style.
Tell me what you don't like about it though =P It'll help me improve.

Date: 2006-06-11 11:03 am (UTC)yeah, what I didn't like about it was the colouring.
staring at the hair, I suspect that your original drawing was more detailed, but the boots almost looks like a boot, and the clothing looks a little two dimensional (well, the front is better, but the lower back part (his pants/skirt/chinese clothing thing) is a little disappointing)
hmm, the background is untextured too but it's not too bad; I think it's a sunset.. and sunsets don't have much 'texture' anyway.
what's the green thing at the bottom? it's very pretty and I feel hungry looking at it :D it reminds me of salad ^o^!

Date: 2006-06-11 11:30 am (UTC)I had problems with the feet in the original draft *sigh* Think it's more a drawing/perspective problem than a colour problem.
Ah, I see what you meant about the......................flap. It's a little too glossy ~~;; Was also pretty unhappy with the hair myself ==; Especially the last bit where it..............flies.......... Or whatever. That bit. It looks embossed. Gah.
The green thing is someone else's magic *grins* No. It is not edible. No it isn't.
Would you like to read this story? XDDD (After exams =0=)
(PS: 100% of my readers say that Vivant is much more interesting than Rowan. The number of readers involved in such a survey is not the point, you see.)

Date: 2006-06-11 11:20 am (UTC)The "special effects" were airbrush + smudge tool......quite primitive, really ^^;;
Oh...the green stuff beneath his feet was brush + blur filter.
I have a writing tablet - so it doesn't have the nifty pressure features or any of that. Basically it's just a mouse, except it supposedly gives better control. Truth is...most of the time it doesn't ;__; I kind of use the mouse and the tablet intermittently, mouse has better precision, which is just sad.
But the tablet does cut down on time ^^
