mayoraasei: There is no such thing as coincidence (Black Cat)

Again a mishmash of manga plotlines, but this time it seems more ineffective than usual.

This episode shows us Train's "mentor", and the sequence of events of his past is left almost untouched - except it seems to have forgotten to mention the name of the mentor and why the guy didn't kill Train. This is a minor point that isn't all that important, but it's a nice addition, that Train picked up his habit of not killing women or children from this mentor. Anyway, the flashbacks are intermittent and almost exactly like the manga, so I won't bother mentioning them.

We start off with Train looking pissed off, since he's had to dress in Eve's clothing until Eve and Kyouko comes back with new clothes. Train's child voice is done by the voice actress who did Detective Conan, and it's quite good.

After a bunch of fashion mishaps, Train finally gets a set of clothing that's more like his original.

Sven tells Train that the bullet probably contained nano-tech machines, and Train excitedly jumps out the window, thinking he would sprout wings too....and of course he didn't. Sulkily, he goes for a walk.

Sven tells Eve to watch over Train. Kyouko gets a call from her friend, and she loses sight of Train. Eve decides to follow Train, and they run into Tim getting bullied by gangsters.

Tim, in the original, was the little guy whose dad was a journalist who unearthed a load of unorthodox dealings and was consequently killed. When Train met him, Train was still big Train.

Train and Eve saves Tim. Sven pays Rins a visit and tells her about Train's problem. She agrees to help.

Train and Eve go back to Tim's hideout, which consists of a dozen or so orphans living together in a deserted caravan dump. Tim asks for Train to help him, and Train refuses. The only other orphan Tim's age is Layla, and she explains that Tim's parents were killed by the gangsters, and the gangsters are trying to force them off the plot of land because they want to build something there. Tim complains angrily that their "leader" isn't here when they need him most.

Eve decides to stay and help Tim protect the children. Train tests out his skill with a gun and suffers from the recoil. Rins finds some information on Tiayu: most of the info's deleted except for "she's very good at making omelettes, except they don't taste good". Eve happens to have made very unappetising looking omelettes and she forces Train to eat them...

The children are asleep in the caravan-like place, but Eve is watching the moon. Train and Tim are sleeping on the roof, and Train gives Tim some lectures about revenge and life (I find the line "don't forget there are people who needs you too" extremely hypocritical given what Train has been running off to do and what Sven has accused him of).

Meanwhile, Layla shows a picture of their "leader" to Eve, and guess what? It's Leon =___=||||| I really really hope they don't mangle his story, because the manga managed to redeem him perfectly. I'd be very pissed off if they don't live up to the tragedy of what he went through in the manga.

The gangsters try to drive them out again, and Train goes and kicks ass. He then offers Tim his gun to kill the gangster, but Tim decides not to , much to everyone's relief.

Happily, Train goes off and takes a shower. Rins and Kyouko walks in to see how Train is...he comes out of the shower perfectly normal-looking. (Ranma...LOL!)

Far away, Doctor is sniggering to himself that he's gotten all the data he needed.

Next episode: 竜を狩る猫 (Ryuu wo Karu Neko)

More complaints!

1) Leon. As mentioned.
2) Tim. It just wasn't as dramatic and well...noble, since Tim was (in manga) running to protect what his father had died to collect.
3) Train doesn't get his fight with the 2 bloodthirsty guardians. Which in the manga showed how much he was prepared to go to affirm Kyouko's exit from the Apostles.
4) Train was really excited in the manga about his size, but in the anime he's moping, again.
5) Train's reversal...it just seems kind of random right now >__>;
6) Don't you generally need to buy the land to build something on it? ==; And if the gangsters have bought the land, then they are entitled to drive strangers off them, gangsters, orphans or whatever.
