(BC-07) 傷だらけの猫
23 Nov 2005 03:48 pmI shall expect an email from you in a few days, Carmen! =P
Forgot to mention this earlier, but all episode titles so far had been "_____ neko" (i.e. something cat)
The anime is completely off course in this episode. And the direction continues to be intentionally flighty (i.e. confusing if you're used to linear and slower progression...which is more the norm in anime). Lots of symbolism, none of which I understood.
Eve and Sven goes to watch the fireworks at the pier. Creed and Train are fighting with each other (background music is an instrumental version of the song Saya always sings), and Ze Ship of Doom appears (I still haven't figured out what exactly is the ship, must rewatch episode possibly 20 times). Creed slices apart one of Train's bullets, and it explodes amongst the fireworks. Sven cheers, thinking it is part of the fireworks, but Eve suddenly notices the smell of blood (is she a dog or something? ~~; She's always running off after the smell of blood) and commands (quite literally) Sven to follow the smell.
A week later, Train wakes up in Sven's hideout to a dream of Saya. Eve and Sven found him unconscious and covering (protecting) 3 kids under his body (probably the 3 brats Saya died saving...tsk...that's why I hate kids). A tanker (I think it was Ze Ship) exploded just after they retrieved him (how convenient). The three kids have recovered nicely. Train growls he doesn't remember helping any kids and goes back to sleep.
Sven then gives Train breakfast, but Train asks for his gun. Sven tells Eve to give it back to him, but Eve refuses, giving him instead a little black cat plushie which the kids had given to Eve to give to Train as thanks, and which, ironically, was a plushie won at a games stall with the help of Saya. Sven offers his hand and says to get along. Train remembers Saya offering her hand, and throws the plushie aside.
Eve is now grumpy and reading her books outside. Sven tries to tell her to give the gun back and be nice to the sickly, but she ignores him. He then looks at the story Eve is reading - Aesop's fable about 3 mice who tried to string a bell on the neck of the "bad cat" (so that they would be warned of its presence). Train notices his gun lying on a shelf in the room and picks it up. Sven leaves the house to buy groceries, and Eve reluctantly enters the house again. She watches Train as he handles his gun.
Janus (they've translated his name as "Jenos", but I prefer Janus since that sounds nice and latin, though apparently no such latin words exist, or maybe I just need the right dictionary) is at a bar picking up girls again and is called in by Belze, who assigns him the job of retrieving Eve, as well as eliminating Train if he runs into him on the job.
Sven checks out the news with Annette again: Rins has left on a job; seems like the kids are keeping their mouths shut on Train's existence; official reports say that a spark from the fireworks ignited the tanker. Eve cuts off the bell from the plushie cat and tries to tie it on Train (to the background noise of the TV, which is playing something suspiciously like Gundam Seed except with crappy animation LOL). Train throws it out the window, and reminds her that she's an assassin too. Eve is hurt and leaves the house ==;
Sven comes home to find her gone and gets pissed off at Train before running off to look for her. Eve is found by Janus, who flirts in his typical way and tries to get her to follow him that way. She's naturally suspicious of him and tries to run, so he ties her up with his string and tries to force her to consent (why? Just take her and run...geez).
Suddenly, a branch breaks and falls cleanly on Janus. Train comes to save the day! Gah. He's wearing the bell that Eve tried to tie on him (and the bell that he's always had in the manga). Train tells Janus that Eve isn't a weapon, but a human. Train shoots at the strings and it loosens to free Eve. After a short scuffle, Janus grabs (with his string) Hades' nozzle, but nothing happens since both is made of orihalcon. With Janus' weapon tangled, Eve slams a mallet into his face.
When Sven returns to the house three hours later, he finds Train and Eve munching away on food. Janus is trekking back to the nearest town (20 miles away) since the car he came in got trashed during the fighting. Something about Train's "I am now a stray cat" seems to bother him. Meanwhile, Train seems to have joined Sven and Eve on their wandering.
The important Chronos people (I, II and one of the Elders) are discussing their plans and agree on concentrating on Creed and the movement of Taoist from the old Forbidden Continent, leaving aside all other matters to later.
Next week: 旅する猫 - Train's bumming around as usual. Sven's getting pissed off as usual.
Again...I don't like the whole "he likes little kids and little animals so therefore he must be nice". And Eve's never had that supernatural ability to smell blood half a kilometre away in the manga >_>; Interesting changes in the plot. Probably the only anime worth downloading even when you've read the manga. Heh.
