In response to what Irene has put up on her blog...
Hah. I put it there myself. What KAT-TUN stands for. What does it stand for? 6 random teenagers thrown together in a random game of chance, hoping that somehow they would learn to woo fans into their league?
What are they? Friends? An alliance? A farce?
Actually, this isn't leading to where I was trying to go.
Ahem. Change of tack.
I never care about the supposed secret side of idol life. It's their life, their own business, and much better to stay that way. But somehow Japanese idols are a lot closer to their fans than Americans. And they connect. And because you think you might just know them, you expect things of them.
There are certain qualities in men that I absolutely abhor, and I still abhor him for having those qualities now, but that is his own personal business.
But the picture. Why did it have to say "KAT-TUN"?
It brought on so many things I didn't want to accuse him of.
There are responsibilities in every single job. Strange as it sounds, there are responsibilities when you stand in the spotlight too.
Especially when your name is linked to the hard work of 5 other people.
And it reminded me of something I wanted to dismiss. His interview.
"I am a person who does things on a whim, and I enjoy it that way. Even if I make a mistake, I won't regret it."
This could have been a foreshadowing.
But it only pissed me off.
You won't regret it?
It this had supposed to come off adorably stubborn, it fricken hell didn't.
Irresponsibility at its height. When you personally dismantle years of hard work of five other people, this comes across as downright self-conceited.
You have a responsibility to yourself and your band members. I don't expect you to mend your tattered personal life - you can go abuse sex hormones all you like - but you have the responsibility not to throw that rag in the media.
And it brings on that question...what does KAT-TUN mean to you?
A toy? That you could just break irresponsibly?
Why does everyone else have to cater for you?
And if you think you're the one that holds the group together, then you couldn't possibly be more of an idiot. KAT-TUN doesn't need you any more than it needs every other of its members. Look at the name. It doesn't spell the same way without any of its members. Not. Just. You.
