(39) Tenkuu no Kira - Kira of the sky

Up in the Mendel Colony (the genetics lab where Rau revealed Kira and Mwu's heritages in GSeed), Da Costa (Andy's sidekick) takes notebook back to Eternal. Unbeknownst to him, a GINN had been monitoring his movements.

On Eternal, Lacus says she thinks that Dullindal is trying to create a world where Earth and PLANT are bound as one, and to create such a world he would have to remove Orb, who is strong both in power and in ideology. On Minerva, Shinn expresses his frustration that Djibril had managed to escape from Heaven's Base and swears to bring the man's downfall.

Archangel is still under repair. Kira is moping about the loss his mobile suit and his lack of power to protect now. Cagalli speaks to Athrun, and they both apologise to each other for their lack of consideration for each other during previous events. Athrun is very understanding about Cagalli's decision to get married (aww ^//^) and disagrees with Cagalli when she wonders depressedly whether there is still hope left for the world.

Back to Eternal, after some examination of the notebook Da Costa retrieved, it is revealed that it appears to have belonged to an associate of Dullindal's. A plan called "Destiny Plan" was mentioned within and the associate remarked, "...we must not forget that people do not live for the sake of the world, but that the world is a place where people live in." This plan was written on a page that had mostly genetics related sketches - notes on DNA/plasmid ligation, chromatography analyses, nucleic acid ratio analyses...and the rest of which I didn't recognise XD Something about DNA denitrification...etc. The remark had been written beside a diagram of protein synthesis, and the words "Destiny Plan" was written over a graph showing the age versus time(?) graph of several animals, with the gradient being AT/CG ratio? Beside the two words was circled the words "gene maniulation possible???" Anyway...it's probably best not to read too much into what's on the page. I only looked since I do biology XD

Their external camera is suddenly destroyed by a GINN. Lacus says that there's no use to destroy the GINN now since he's probably backed up. She orders Eternal to launch to protect the factory, and if worst comes to worst, she will drop "the two units" and documents towards Archangel.

Murrue broadcasts on AA that Eternal launched and is pursued by ZAFT. Neo contacts the bridge saying that the restless guy next door (Athrun) is saying "Go, Kira!" Athrun mutters "You must protect Lacus!" (aww) Kira says that he will borrow Cagalli's Strike Rouge and runs out before Cagalli could say no.

Murrue turns back to Neo and says "so you still remember the communication code for the bridge?" before she turns the channel off. Athrun says, "Thank you Fllaga (commander)" and Neo looks grumpy and insists that he's a captain. And then Athrun realises that Mwu was fried two years ago ==;

Kira reprograms Strike Rouge to the same parameters as Strike (so it's now the original colours, not pink...thank God). Andy launches in a red Gaia (Stellar's old suit) >__> Where did he get that from? Eternal's in a pinch, even with Andy's efforts. Strike rushes in and disables a bunch of mobile suits. It then loses a shield and the shield arm trying to block a beam for Eternal, and then loses the other arm because he wasn't paying attention. Andy grabs Strike's gun and tells Kira to get onto Eternal. Kira waits outside the gate and gets both Strike's legs shot off ==;;;; Cagalli's going to be pissed...

On Eternal, Kira and Lacus jump into each other's arms. While they're happily being sweet, Andy's having really hard time outside...So they rush into the hangar and Strike Freedom is revealed complete with operatic symphony in the background =___=|||

Begin Kira kick-ass time. Strike Freedom has some sort of light shield...is that the mirage colloid? @__@ It gets grabbed by two whips and he deploys his DRAGOONs...and then activates those spam-otic plasma beams. He then charges at the two Nazca ships and destroys most of their cannons. All ends well for Kira et co, of course.

Technical terms: I don't know what the mirage colloid is, but DRAGOONs are those detachable beam gun things that Mwu's MA had, Providence (Rau's suit) also had them, Destroy seems to have something like it, I think Auel's Abyss had it as well...and Rey's Legend has it. The significance of DRAGOONs is that it's very difficult to control and are generally used by those who are "Newtype" - which is supposedly some sort of evolutionary advantage that gives a heightened spatial awareness of the surroundings, making DRAGOONs much easier to control. They also have mutual connection/sensing of other Newtypes. Rau and Mwu were both Newtypes, thus they had the "ping" reaction with each other. From what we've seen Rey and Neo are also Newtypes, and this episode confirms Kira as a Newtype.

Athrun still seems to care a lot about Lacus. Kira says "I can now fight properly" before he picks up his suit, which makes you worry about whether or not he's getting addicted to war. Kira/Lacus fans and Athrun/Cagalli fans should be appeased. It is interesting to note that Kira did not go SEED at all in this entire episode. The champion just got a power up ==;;;;
