Oh my poor poor sourly neglected journal.

Randomness from [livejournal.com profile] beliael

1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says.
the clearance between the objective and the slide is small, so work with great care. (No, I am NOT reading my biology skills book for fun)

: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?
In which direction? It's currently resting on the armrest, so if i stretch it downwards, it will still first touch the armrest that which it is touching already.

3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?:
Simpsons...probably.

4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is:
7:43

5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?
7:43 MUA HA HA (No, really, I didn't cheat XD)

6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Clock, grandma slamming wardrobe door, cars outside.

7: When did you last step outside? What were you doing?
Yesterday. I was...coming in? Oo;

8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?
Reading manga ^0^

9: What are you wearing?
T-shirt, pants, nice fluffy jacket.

10: Did you dream last night?
No.

11: When did you last laugh?
Today. Reading Parfait Tic XD It's cute.

12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Lots of cables and a Leunig calendar.

13: Seen anything weird lately?
Hmm.....there was this old lady who kept bobbing up and down as she walked these tiny tiny steps. Mildly amusing, eventually irritating.

14: What do you think of this quiz?
I do not.

15: What is the last film you saw?
Kill Bill. Gratuitous bloodshed and Jap-culture-rape.

16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?
NIGHT!!!!!!! Ahem. A house, and leave the rest to that major shopping spree I promised myself for Japan and HK ^_~

I don't like it much anyway. I still think it's complete Asian-culture-rape ~~; I really really hated the special effects. It's bad enough to see in anime the blood splurting out like carbon dioxide out of a fire extinguisher can, even worse when you see someone spray-gunning blood in a movie ~~; I think it rather spoils the situation.

I also think that if O-Ren Ishii is omgsogreat, then how the hell can she get killed by some chick who spent only ONE month with a katana???? And she didn't even practise with the katana she fought with.

Blatant culture rape: if you're GOING to do a martial arts movie, at least make sure that the actresses/actors can hold the bloody sword steady. It's like the most basic of all basics. It's unnerving to see the sword swaying in their hands when you're being told that they're omgsogreat ~~; And wtf's with the line "even if you can't fight like a samurai, at least you can die like a samurai"??? Is that meant to be an insult?? I thought samurai's always died honourable deaths, so how the hell is that supposed to be an insult? And if it is are you insulting all the samurai's in Japan who died fighting for whatever they believed in??? And this was an insult that come out of a Jap woman who looked like one of those who believed in the old Samurai ways. And for God's sake if you're going to use a Chinese actress in a Jap role, at least make sure she can speak Jap properly >.< The accent was pretty obvious. Though frankly I speak no Jap at all and have no right to say that ^0^; Personally I thought Uma Thurman spoke better than Lucy Liu, apart from a major stumble over "omae" into "omoi".

I don't know, I think a lot of it was cut out to make it suitable for watching on the plane, but I saw no point to the movie apart from gratuitous bloodshed and special effects overuse. The characters don't learn anything, they're pacing it up to a sequel, nothing really changes except that people die ~~; I must say some of the action were slightly better choreographed than other "martial arts" movies I've seen/heard of, ie. a lot of it was actual fighting and not people on strings flying on trees. Westerners have this misunderstood fascination with "Asian martial arts" and gush over stuff that a proper Asian wouldn't even look at.
