I wasn't going to post about my exam so I am not going to but.

Umm.

WTF?!

Kame in The Wallflower?????

UGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH. Kame you can't act *strangle strangle strangle* You're going to make an already annoying character.....just that much more annoying!!!!!!

The girl is the Obligatory Bitchy Girl from Mei-chan. I can't believe I recognised her just from her chin =__= She wasn't dislikeable in Mei-chan but I don't know if I can commend her ==;

Uchi and Tegoshi too...................errrrrrrrrrrgh =_________=;;;;;;;; I don't know what is worse, a Johnny's special or a D-boys special of this drama.

Kame I forsee bad ratings. BAAAAAAAAD ratings. BAAAAAAAAAAAAA- *gets kicked into space by all Kame fans*

Your bad ratings label is going to continue T______T

打擊太大。HP一次性降至零。現在要睡覺充電。

PS: To any Kame fans out there who might be annoyed, I'm just saying that the storyline is very much not suited for Kame. He's not a good actor nor a versatile one, and being able to make a silly and generic and uninteresting character likeable isn't one of his strengths (Eita, on the other hand...♥)

Yes...I didn't have a good impression of the manga =/ And sorry to any Tegoshi fans out there...he can't act either. And I don't think Uchi can either!

LOL There are so many things I can say in response to that, but I shall not ride on my wave of stress-driven sarcasm.

My job is not in acting, therefore I don't need to be able to.

Lots of actors are given roles not suited for them. Casting directors are not flawless humans.

I agree ratings depend on many reasons. I didn't say that Kame will be the reason if it fails. For once (since Nobuta) he actually has the support of other Johnny's as major characters (Yama-chan didn't count because his role was pretty minor in One Pound Gospel). The manga is silly and high camp and most of the time extremely ridiculous. I'm saying it will be a flaw of the original story that will make it very hard for these three actors to make their characters likeable (because frankly I found the characters pretty irritating in the original manga).

But who knows, maybe acting the cute shota is right into Tegoshi's territory, and it has been several years since I last saw him in My Boss My Hero.

They may also change Kame's character to fit him more...I hope so. There are roles he can do very well, and they tend to all demand underacting or angst, neither of which is in this role.

I rather like Kame as an actor- but it's been ages since I watched one of his dramas *shrugs* He's not prefect but he's better than some other JE boys.

However I don't plan on watching this, simply because I loathe The Wallflower. Lately dramas seem to be adapted from manga's that are utter crap, ie Mei-chan, Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru.

No I agree. I think people are misunderstanding that I completely loathe Kame's acting skills. He's not a bad actor, he's just not a good one. For one thing, I like his acting much better than Yamashita's --;;; I just have high standards and I think I can probably count the number of Japanese actors I consider good on one hand XDD

Moreover, Johnny's is known more for range and stage presence than specialising in one particular area like other talent agencies (for example, Amuse has some young stars with solid acting skills for their age). That's why people like Toma are a rare precious breed because he's concentrating in acting and has gotten quite good with it.

And I do think Kame has limited range. There are some roles in which he's brilliant and can make you totally sympathise with him, but there are others or there are moments where it's obvious he's not comfortable in the character. That's perfectly normal though because most other actors will have some role in which they're just not good. For example, Yamashita really needs to stop doing underacted roles like Aizawa because he just looks like a walking tree wooden.

I too found The Wallflower extremely self-gratuitous and I wasn't fond of the plot. I don't think it's one I'll keep watching, but I hope to be wrong.

Boku imo is a nasty nasty thing that should never have gotten to the shelves. I do not understand why so many people like it =___=; Brother complexes are fine, I think I have a hidden one myself, but poorly written, sex-filled, shallow incest fantasy is really......just not my cup of tea. Perhaps I shouldn't judge the manga by its stupid main characters and melodramatic ending...which was exactly how much I read...LOL

LOL, "walking tree." They should just stop trying to give Yamapi "cool" roles and stick him in a comedy where he has to be insane or stupid or both (or a howling crybaby since he seems to be good at that).

It was hard for me to appreciate The Wallflower because I read it after Ouran and -- well -- that's hard to top. Tamaki >>> Kyouhei, after all. Hell, Tamaki >>>>>>> the Universe :D. But I don't loathe Wallflower. I have different (lower) standards for shoujo manga in general.

I think I read The Wallflower before Host Club.... Wow...that's really digging memories out of the dust there XDD

Ah, I have pretty low standards for shoujo as well, as long as its basis doesn't annoy me, and to some extent The Wallflower did because here's this girl who starts off interesting and different but turns out in critical moments just like any sparkly heroine. Although by Jap manga standards she's pretty kick ass XDD

I think I just didn't dig the art (I know a lot of people do) and I thought the guys were pretty uninteresting. I think Host Club characters are a much more satirical and interesting range ^^

Oh, I didn't like the art, either. I know the guys are supposed to look beautiful, but they just looked awkward to me (with the exception of Yuki, who was just cute). And it's true that they were rather typical sparkly shoujo heroes played more or less straight rather than satirical, as you said.

Sunako IS pretty kick ass. Perhaps that's why some of the people I know with a rather feminist bent like her.

I actually like Kame as an actor.. but that's probably because i'm a pathetic-die-hard-fan-who-will-love-him-no-matter-what. I do however wish that he was going to be in a different drama.. i tried reading the wallflower (before i knew Kame would act in the drama.. still haven't picked it up again) and i found the characters somewhat annoying to read about. I mean.. it was a good idea, but i just didn't like how it was done. Do you get me? lol

But maybe we should both be a little more positive.. looking at it now, the drama looks like it's gonna be kinda crap, right? BUT that doesn't mean it will. It could be a huge success.. acting.. plot..

I guess i'll just have to wait and see >.

I do like Kame in some roles, but I've been uniformly queasy with him in roles that are exaggerated and require over-acting. I didn't like The Wallflower much either, although I don't hate it, but I think it is the exact sort of drama that calls for exaggerated acting that Kame is uncomfortable in. And I mean he's uncomfortable in it, you can see it on his face.

It could be good, the production team did Hanadan, which was a surprise success, so this could be done well too. Tegoshi suits his role and Uchi's role doesn't call for too much acting. It just depends on how they pitch Kame's role, and I do think it can be done well. It's just that given my impression of the manga, I think if they take the most direct interpretation, Kame (or in fact, Johnny's) don't suit it. The manga is directed at a niche goth audience, and most manga fans seem pretty baffled about the casting too.
