For people who like Count Cain, I recommend Cantarella by Higuri Yuu. It's being scanlated by Storm in Heaven and you could get it off their IRC channel (they don't have it on HTTP just yet, unfortunately).

It's centred around Cesare Borgia, son of Pope Alexander VI, and set during the late 15th century. It's more occult than history, more romantic than realistic. Reading through some of the historical records on Cesare, I think it'll cross a lot with the same sort of events and themes that occurred in Count Cain. There's the idea of sacrifical lamb presented by the father to the devil, the idea of corruption in society and the irony that the most pure people are ostracised. There will be incest, as far as history shows, and I'm sure the mangaka would like to capitalise on that ==;;; There will be loads and loads of angst, because Cesare was a man hated and feared violently by much of south-eastern Europe for his decisive administration and martial achievements.

His quick rise to power began when he was at most 17, but he left the church and his cardinalate 5 years later to become commander of the papal army. The rest of his short life was a train of political and martial victories, gained with a ruthlessness that made him many powerful but prejudiced enemies, who used effective propaganda to turn the populace against him. When his father died, the power Cesare held died too, and he was killed at the age of 32 after a series of arrests.

I think, personality-wise, in the manga, he is also like Cain. He can be, and often is, ruthless when the occasion calls for it. He is not one to leave mercy to a political enemy. And also, he is unpredictable. At times he is vulnerable, but he will grow through it.

Neither Count Cain nor Cantarella sticks faithfully to their historical setting. It's just good fun for reading ^^

Oooooh Caaaaaaain! Ah I love Count Cain, though have been hoarding it and haven't read the latest chapters. I'll keep that title in mind until they have http (or bittorrent) mirrors. IRC is naaaaasty (okay I just don't know how to use it :P).

LOL You should learn IRC =P Makes leeching all the much easier...and it's easy once you get the hang of it. It's a bit like going through DOS really.

Count Cain!! <3 I did like it up until I found out what the ending was. I still like it, but it kind of went loose and loopy after volume 9-ish, and I got confused with what was happening ==;

But Cain is cool!!! Almost as cool as Kira (Angel Sanctuary) XD
