Was reading Furuba 15 yesterday...

(Don't have book with me, so grasping at details)

Btw: V14 ends with Yuki feeling faint after being stuck in a closed, non-ventilated room filled with paint fumes. He takes some time out with Manabe and tells him that what he feels for Tooru is "the love for a mother", and he is ashamed of that sort of feeling.

V15 starts off with a long flashback of Yuki's past. It explains his character and angst much better than I expected (lol). He is brought to Akito by his mother and the first time he sees Akito, he cries because of the mixed feelings he has. Akito was always bad-tempered but not as unreasonable. He cried, too, and Shigure would console him.

One day Akito suddenly changed - this is the black painting scene: "My world is all black, so let's give this room the appropriate colour too." Then he stops and screams/laughs "No, I'm not the unwanted one. People need me." He pushes Yuki to the floor and yells that Yuki must have noticed it by now, that he was unwanted and "everyone hates the mouse". Yuki begins to note then that his parents don't come for him, that he never mixes with the jyuunishi, not even with his brother. At a new year's party, he hears that the cat has arrived. His reaction was one of pure curiosity and when he sees Kyo, he thinks "his hair, what a beautiful colour", but Kyo sees him and screams the stream of accusations: "It's all because of you. It's all the mouse's fault!" etc.

This rejection, along with others - Ayame pushing him away, Kyo refusing to touch the hat that Yuki picked up - made him physically ill, and so occurs the hat/Tooru incident. Yuki runs out of the Souma household and keeps running, pretty much wanting to waste himself, and sees Kyouko panicking over Tooru. "A mother like that existed"...and he remembers seeing a girl like Tooru closeby. When he finds her, she follows him (very cute! XD) and when he brought her there, he gives her the hat. He then hides behind a wall where he turns into a mouse (body too weak), but relieved and exhilarated that for a moment, "someone needed me".

Back to present, Manabe comments that having feelings like that is quite often a reason for a guy to go out with a girl. Yuki replies that he isn't content just with that, he is greedy, and wants someone an equal standing. He doesn't want to just take, as he is with Tooru, but he wants a relationship where he can give.

He goes home to Kyo picking on Tooru... and he says, "The hat is with Tooru, there's no need to ask her to return it, is there?" And Kyo gets pissed off...

The next few chapters, if I remember correctly, were the school play. Not much happens here that continues the plot except these few:

- When Kyo doesn't turn up to a rehearsal, Yuki offers to go get him. He finds Kyo and makes a comment about not making Tooru worried and Kyo yells that he would never understand, surrounded by his father and mother and everyone who pampered him, being able to achieve things, to fly over people, unlike stupid people trying to achieve stupid dreams (referring to himself). Yuki gives him a sad smile, and Kyo remembers what Kyouto once said "without the hatred, it makes you very uneasy, doesn't it?" and he smashes the window next to where the two of them were standing.

- During the play, when Uotani has to say a line about people who weren't able to meet with each other, she loses it and screams at the audience "Come see me, damn it!!!" Both Momiji and Tooru catches onto the fact that she isn't over Kureno, and Momiji offers to copy the tape of the performance and give it to Kureno.

- Also during the play, in the end, Hanajima says something like: "Are you going to lock yourself up like this in your castle, for the rest of your days..." etc Kyo replies with: "So what if I do? I'm not hurting anyone, am I?" Tooru suddenly bursts out with a number of highly cryptic exclamations, but Kyo is already suspecting that Tooru knows what will happen to him (getting locked up after he turns of age).

- Machi is surrounded by PuriYuki people and she makes the comment again that he is not a prince, but someone who feels very insecure. Yes, more Ma-ki. I think most fans are more or less expecting a Ma-ki ending now T__T

After a tactless slip by Hiro (as usual), Tooru speculates that Hatsuharu and Isuzu going out. Hanajima is found "flirting" with Kazuma (Kyo's master) and totally freaking Kyo out (lol!!!)

The short appearance by Ayame and shop assistant was funny (of course!)
Ayame: Yuki~ Let me turn you into a beautiful and slender prince!!
Yuki: I'm not the prince. The prince is the guy that is trying to slip away (Kyo).
*Dramatic Pause*
Ayame: ....I see, I see...I understand now. Well, it's not like it's impossible for me to turn you into a beautiful and slender prince....

The play was funny, but I echo Hiro's remark at the end "What was that???"

It made no sense whatsoever *rolls eyes*.

PS: For those who don't remember names -
Yuki = mouse
Kyo = cat
Tooru = main girl/rice ball
Momiji = rabbit
Hatsuharu = cow
Isuzu = horse
Hiro = sheep/goat
Kureno = rooster
Akito = "god"/evil guy XD
Shigure = dog
Hatori = dragon/seahorse
Ayame = snake/Yuki's brother

Uotani = "fish valley"/gangster girl
Hanajima = "flower island"/psychic girl
Kyouko = Tooru's mum

Machi = SRC secretary
Manabe = SRC vice president

In the freetalk she's going through the jyuunishis again and mentioning details that she couldn't put in the manga. In V15 she got through Hatori and Momiji. I don't actually have the book with me right now, but basic details:

Hatori - father was a doctor, died from illness when Hatori was young. Mother also died from illness (but a few years apart). They're a very strict family, so there was no such thing as "warm family" for them. He isn't the only one who is able to do hypnosis, but the trade is a handed down privilege and it just so happens that he was also a jyuunish (I think that's the gist of it).

Momiji - the only guy who can get cuddly with Tooru without ramifications (LOL). Lives separate from his mum, dad and sister, and has a few servants all to himself. Sometimes his dad would visit. He lives close to Hatori (almost neighbours) and so the two of them take care of and support each other in many ways.

Whew...long, and getting busted by dad again =___=

*skips spoilers* I've learnt from learning of THAT spoiler of Akito. *mutters*

How'd you get your hands on vol. 15? Was it in Chinese? Or was it... *prays* scanslated somewhere?

LOL!!! You got spoiled about Akito!! XDD Man, that's the worst spoiler to get if you didn't follow the plot up until then, because it kinda makes you think "great...now I don't feel like reading the rest".

But the chapter after that spoiler explains it quite well, I thought. It was still weird, but it ties in nicely with Kureno's past, as well as explaining what Shigure was on about in volume 5? 6? when he was talking about the "dream".

Erm yeah...sorry, V15 was Chinese ^^;;;; It's licensed, but there are still groups continuing scanlations. There's also sites that put up translated chapters (without descriptions, which can make it hard to follow), and other non-English sites that put up raw scans >__>;

This scanlator (http://eternal-blue.annexy.com/projects.htm) seems to be doing a lot of licensed series, and Furuba is on their list...though scanlators like these tend to serve their releases on IRC. The chapters are also quite hard to find unless you're in their channel, because some of the biggest scanlating channels ban fserves from hosting licensed stuff ~~;;
