mayoraaseiContrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed this movie much better than its predecessor. Not enough character development? Honestly, if you expect to watch Bond for character development, you really should be watching something else.
It was probably the prettiest piece of action movie I've seen. That's not to say it's non-violent or non-painful-looking, but the action sequences are so perfectly coordinated that watching the carnage unfold is like watching an efficiently executed dance.
Quite a destructive dance, mind you. If M had to pay for Bond's damage bills, I think she would have forced him to defect.
I haven't watched any of the earlier Bonds to compare, but I suspect Craig's Bond is a good step different to those before him. Very much not a people's person, this one. An agent so ruthless and efficient in killing and destroying things he should make Tom Cruise's assassin in Collateral blush.
For the most part, the violence comes with a streak of nasty humour. If one could gloat without smiling, Bond does it throughout the entire movie, especially after a difficult kill. To his credit, at least, Bond doesn't seem to get too many innocents killed in the mayhem - at least not by his own hand. Still, one could easily pin about 100 crimes on him based on just this movie, even without the help of Vimes XDDD
Not much of a plot exists - it seems to be just a chronicle of Bond's pursuit of vengeance. But you get the bang for your buck's worth...certainly the onomatopoeic meaning of the word "bang" anyway, accompanied by glorious pyrotechnics or splintering glass - in many cases both.
Good fun, and Bond's efficient nastiness is strangely humourous to watch.
