fmp and g00 similarities

mayoraaseiCould probably take forever listing the similarities between Full Metal Panic! and Gundam 00 (guerilla trained main character? Warmongering freak who just doesn't die? Meccha? Peace-making wannabe paramilitary organisation?)
I thought that Kurz Weber and Lockon's similarities ended with having the same voice actor and both being snipers (and were both the most easy-going people on ship)...but apparently not.
He lived in Japan until, at some point in middle school, his family perished in a terrorist airport bombing. Kurz left Japan, eventually disappearing into Lebanon. Kurz apparently intended to avenge his family's death by fighting in the Middle East. He has since worked as a mercenary soldier for hire. Kurz discovered his skill with the rifle, becoming an unparalleled sniper within two years. He eventually found his talent with Arm Slave piloting as well.
This compared with Neil Dylandy, who witnessed his family perish in a terrorist bombing in Ireland when he was in his teens, and then he obviously went somewhere and acquired his sniping/piloting skills.
Interesting to note that there was only one "Lockon" present at the scene of the explosion, and so far we haven't heard any "I hate terrorists" diatribe from Lyle yet.
I'm still willing to wager that Lyle knew of Neil's death before Setsuna told him (or it's another one of those unexplained inconsistencies between accessory merchandise and the "canon" plotline). Maybe that's why Lyle teases Tieria so much and yet doesn't speak much with the other members of the crew LOL!!!
Can't wait for proper Tieria development. Well, he's developing already, but would like more on his past than "Mystery" marks everywhere.
On the subject of G00, Newtype had Kouga Yun's original character designs and some of them were very pretty. Especially the girls, they looked much cuter.
I hate ECGs =___= But at least they're making slightly more sense now. Although I can still envision myself spending 20 minutes in exams trying to figure out which way the electrical currents would run.
