gundam 00 season 2 episode 7
16 Nov 2008 11:35 pmSoma gets nerfed, everyone who usually cries starts crying and everyone who never smiles starts smiling......this just about sums up today's episode.
Is it just me or does Soma cry annoyingly frequently ever since this season started? ==;
- The stupid episode took 5 minutes to rehash the cliffhanger. Grr. In Allelujah's case I couldn't stop laughing when he cried "MARIIIIEEE~~~" for the 3rd time. Obviously the results were exactly as we expected - Saji shoots and misses; Allelujah and Soma crashes on deserted island (it's so convenient how there are always deserted islands when a major character needs to spend a night somewhere with a girl...ahem); Graham and Setsuna has the most pathetic fight ever - it's practically more pathetic than the one last season, since Graham actually says "GWAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR--ooh?!" Then Setsuna's Gundam short-circuits and he crashes into the sea and Graham decides that he's too cool to get rid of a dangerous enemy. Even his fellow A-LAWS'ers are going "GRR"
- Obviously the two sides start a manhunt for their respective members, but obviously they don't actually find said people until PlotPoint has taken place.
- Like, I know I really should be glad that we finally get the whole gist of Allelujah's past, all the psychotic laughing shootings and everything, but somehow, ya'know, I'm just not connecting.
- So after Allelujah screams Marie's name like a constipated alarm clock on laxatives (hmm...), she suddenly goes "zing" and "ding" and voila! She remembers him now!
- They have a nice little chat about what's been happening to them, which is done so rigidly that it's not even a thinly veiled attempt at brushing up events for the audience, since said veil does not exist.
- So apparently one day Allelujah and a bunch of kids broke out of the super soldier complex, drifted on a spaceship, then Hallelujah decided that he'll kill everyone (presumably to save oxygen for himself) and that made Allelujah so despaired that he decided to join CB so he can do more killing. Hurrah!
- Marie thinks that's awesome, because all she's been doing is lie immobile in a glass cask until they implanted the Soma personality and let her go do some killing. Think of all the fun she missed =(
- Sergei sets off looking for his yet-to-be-adopted daughter, and for plot reasons, find her just as the two finish summarising their lives for the audience
- It really sucks to break the 4th wall. I'm not saying the anime did, but it's got to be banging on it pretty hard
- After a lot of melodramatic posing and heroic speeches, wherein Marie and Allelujah try to simultaneously save each other's asses from Sergei, Marie dives gracefully into a puddle of mud. Disillusioned, Sergei gives up his unhealthy pursuit of loli...wait, wrong anime.
- Uh. Sergei thanks Allelujah for his efforts in saving the space elevator 4 years before. He then leaves, resigned to a life of solitude and dying alone and being found three weeks later half-eaten by an Alsatian. I want an Alsatian =(
- He brushes shoulders with Lockon flying the other way and sends the pair's location to Lockon. Always the nice guy...
- Lockon arrives to find Allelujah and Marie snogging each other and sighs in envy. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR BEING MEAN TO FELDT =P
- Of course, always up on the gossip, he forwards the picture to everyone on Ptolemy, earning Allelujah a chorus of "WHAT? AND ALL THE TROUBLE WE WERE GOING TO!!"
- Setsuna smiles.
- Yes, apparently that's a shock.
- Tieria finally meets his clone! Regene! IIRC, it's the one that has Romi Paku's voice XDD At least Tieria sounds indisputably male.
- Oh wow, after that whole humdrum, I totally forgot that Azadistan is now no longer on the map and an interim government has been set up with the intention of reforming Middle East politics (what is it with western society and the unending desire to reform the Middle East =/ just wondering). Marina goes boohoo again. Still no news of Nina though.
Umm. The entire episode was pretty MEH for me. I mean, I'm usually fond of Allelujah, because out of the 4 Meisters last season only 1.5 was genuinely nice, and 1 of them was Lockon =/
The whole Marie/Allelujah thing is so awkward. Maybe it's because the Marie personality is so...mild and undefined. I kept expecting that she would suddenly switch back to Soma and start sticking knives in Allelujah's ribs.
I guess I feel disappointed =(
Edit:
I think we now know what Aeolia's secret plan is...

World peace? Pfft. Not if you can replace mankind with purple-haired red-eyed androgynous android clones!
(Seriously, who is that last person? She has BOOBS. Well, they could be fake, but nevertheless.)

It would have to be a pretty good land trap.
Meh, in the scheme of things I don't think it's a huge point =P Since Lockon probably was pretty close to Allelujah anyway so it wouldn't have hurt to check. Sergei probably gave him the location to avoid a direct confrontation as well.
