Last chapter Noda-sensei brought Mikan, Hotaru, Natsume and Ruka to a "time hole" to watch the meeting between Mikan's parents - her dad (Yukihira Izumi) as a teacher and her mother (Adumi Yuka) is his student (age difference ~10 years?).
- It's now skipped to 2 years later.
- The kids are really fond of Yukihira. Yuka still keeps to herself, although no one dislikes her. Yukihira tries to involve her more.
- Yukihira is asked by the primary school principal to take over as supervisor of the "Special Class" - which in the past includes the "Dangerous Abilities" class.
- Amongst the list of students he's given are Koizumi Luna and Narumi. We find out Narumi's full name! 鳴海 Ｌ 杏樹. No idea about the pronunciation.
- Luna spends a lot of time watching Yuka the same way Nobara watches Mikan.
- Luna approaches Yuka, but other girls in the class blocks her and tells Yuka not to get near her because "she can steal people's souls...ewww". Luna slips away, looking really sad and rejeted.
- Yukihira is annoyed at the school's philosophy about dealing with "problem students". Jinno-sensei tells him that he's an idiot if he wants to just refuse and piss off the principal. He points that it's in fact a great opportunity for him to stay close to the principal and observe.
- Noda-sensei says that Yukihira put a lot of effort to give the "dangerous abilities" students a place where they belong in the school, and the fact that people like Natsume etc are well-accepted is mostly to his credit.
- Luna tries to approach Yuka again when they're alone. The classmates' words in her mind, Yuka tries to get away from her first, but Luna pleads that she won't steal her soul and she just wants to be friends with Yuka. Yuka asks why, and Luna says that Yuka's always alone and so looks more approachable. Yuka realises that she knows what it feels to be lonely, and smiles "Thank you, it's the first time someone said 'be my friend'."
Seriously...Luna is acting so much like Nobara in this chapter, down to the nervous sniffle. Now we just need to find out what turned Luna against Yuka to make her despise Mikan so much....

Date: 2008-11-11 07:33 pm (UTC)I asked two Japanese friends how Narumi's name would be pronounced. One of them said, "Narumi ... Anju? OR... Aki?" and looked very confused, while the other one said, "Narumi ... Anju?"
To which I replied, "But she said it could be Aki ..." and then she continued, "Well it COULD be but it would be really weird to see it written like that. Whose name is it anyway?"
So I said, "Narumi from Gakuen Alice yay!!!"
And she said, "... but Anju's a girl's name. It has to be. It's not even close to being a unisex name like Jun or Alex."
So I can only conclude that either I copied your characters wrong or Narumi is a very unfortunate person ... or he's actually a girl.

Anyhow, about the name, to me it looked really girly too, so Narumi is probably a very unfortunate person! XD You have to be pretty unfortunate to be called "apricot tree" if you're a guy =/

Date: 2008-11-12 07:45 pm (UTC)Hmm. Well, I guess that's the reason why no-one ever calls Narumi by his first name. XDD Anju Narumi does sound like it 'fits' though, you know? And I wouldn't have thought it was a girl's name until I asked a Japanese person ...
Now I just want to know the rest of the teachers' names. :S
