It's getting to be one of those moments where, if McCain and Palin do get elected, it happens only in America. Amen.

Well, it wasn't meant to be, but you may feel pleased with yourself(?) that having your birthday as a deadline somehow contributed to the miracle of this being finished so quickly =D And since it's your "birthday" you get the whole thing unshrunken! Muahahaha~

The item Vivrael is holding, is, of course, this thing XDDDD
I'm both pleased and annoyed by the picture, but as I am not simultaneously pleased and annoyed, it's a complicated sensation involving unpredictable fluctuation between the two extremes.
Tried to go for a slightly different colouring style here. I'm still very much experimenting with colouring styles. I wanted a pastel-y effect, but ended up with a watercolour-y effect on Solen, which I'm okay about. It sucks when Solen is so pale and Vivrael is so...well...vivid? Solen's pallor is intentional, by the way (apart from the fact that he's probably also naturally paler)...he's anaemic!.....?
I'm pretty happy with Vivrael's hair this time around. His hair's always been an absolute nightmare to colour ==; I love drawing it, and I love it when it's black and white, but I hate colouring it =0=
As usual, I am convinced that my B/W version is much more expressive than my coloured one ==;;; This is probably timed a few months after Solen woken from his coma, so the dilated pupils are to suggest that his blind (although that is probably medically incorrect, but just.....ignore that, mm?) There's also a lot of other medically dodgy stuff there, like the dodgy cannulation, the dodgy wheelchair, and the bandaging on his other arm that looks like something I would do (i.e. dodgy XD). And that's probably type O blood Solen's receiving =D He just seems like an O-type person, that's all XD
I think their expression changed from the original to the coloured version ==; Solen's expression looks softer in the coloured one. In the original my impression(intention?) was Vivrael trying really hard to maintain his cheer while Solen, looking cold, blindly feels for the photo frame.
I'm not sure when it started, but I've become very fond of characters who can keep smiling for the sake of reassuring others, when all they want to do is cry. It must have been a terrible time for Vivrael, with Halley and Rachel killed, Lyriel suddenly in the SD, and Solen so badly injured. I think he'd be unsettled by Solen's unresponsiveness, and terrified that Solen might have changed.
I like more characters in Next Assignment than I do currently with Prophecy...then again, I wonder if I said the opposite when I was in the middle of NA. I guess I like more relationships in NA, probably because there actually are. I mean, Rowan and Vivant are both equally bad at forming relationships, in different ways. But I always liked the Vivrael/Solen dynamic, and in some ways also the Sigmund/Rowan dynamic. As they say in Chinese...(extremely paraphrased) you're not friends if you don't try to kill each other first! XDDDDD I'm also quite fond of the interaction between Vivrael and Lyriel...I guess mainly because Vivrael's only vulnerable when it comes to these two people.
I guess the other thing is a lot of people in Prophecy are very much...alone? If Duereigh was a person, I probably would have liked the relationship between Neillan and Duereigh...LOL. There aren't as many "awww" moments, except when they involve Kamaeh. But don't worry! With most characters now dispersed, there will (hopefully) be more focus on those immediately with Vivant~
