Spent today, all 350 of us eager first year medical and dental students, holed up in Eastern Avenue from 8:45am to 5:15pm.

You know people think you're doing a really "prestigious" course when you're important enough that anyone and everyone important deems it necessary to speechify about the glorious (cough) achievement of getting in, and the glorious effort of getting out, no matter that the latter hadn't even occurred and may in fact never be realised *touch wood*

And 8 and a half hours later, we're only one-third of the way through a gruelling three days......of welcome talks. Argh.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the medical profession (for whatever reason) produces (or offers?) some of the wittiest and most interesting lecturers, but nothing can be remotely funny at 5pm after 8 hours of aural desensitisation from prolonged speechifying.

Speaking of the prestige, today's program made me squirm ==; While I'm grateful to the various professors and deans and associate deans for taking their time to give their welcoming address, I'm not sure it was all that necessary for them to make our heads any more bloated. I'd much rather a single day of solid information about resources and assessments and classes than one of endless congratulating and welcoming and moral rallying.

I saw a few familiar faces today from NSG - Tina Lee, Grace, Julie and Mitasha(sp?) - but they're all doing dentistry!!!! You guys!!!! Why?!!!

Had several Shakespearean quotes brought up today XD "Two households, both alike in dignity/In fair Sydney, where we set our scene" LOL!!!

And the other, is of course, my nth favourite Hamlet quote - "There's method in the madness!" (Original: Though this be madness, there's method in't)

♥ Hamlet and Polonius sparring XDDD "What do you read, my lord?" "Words, words, words"....Ahh Hamlet ♥
