This episode proves that everyone except Lockon Stratos is absolutely cuckoo.

Setsuna just before he goes SEED: Seriously Emphatically Erratically Delusional

I'm liking this series more than I did last week, which must be a good thing, if not for my exam results then surely for the entertainment value.

Basically last week we were introduced to a mysterious and powerful paramilitary organisation calling themselves, quite arrogantly, the Celestial Beings, of which Setsuna is a part. There's a brief flashback in the beginning, sort of Shinn-esque but not, of young Setsuna fighting in the desert while first generation mobile suits broadcast religious propaganda onto the field. Setsuna is finally saved by a Gundam with shiny sparkly wings.

Episode 2 begins with a lot of political talk, and reveals quite a nice parallel to modern world politics. It's certainly difficult not to smirk at the Union's (consisting of USA, Australia and Japan) remark that "they're doing our job for us".

Setsuna and Lockon, who were on Earth for CB's debut attack last episode, join with Tieria and Allelujah, who descend from space. They enter the war on "Ceylon Island", and it's interesting to see them dissect the ethnic conflict. While watching the awkward MS's negotiate the barren terrain, Setsuna gets distracted by his flashback.

Fortunately, unlike Shinn, he only has one such flashback.

Then begins the assertion of WTHness of the four main characters. At least, of three of the four main characters. Setsuna announces "I am Gundam" and charges into battle, making Lockon go "WTH?!" Allelujah tails it with a disparaging, "You can babysit him" ...and here on, it's either the dodgy translation of Allelujah is really out of whack, because he calls himself "Super Killer"........?!

The mobility of Setsuna's suit, Exia, is absolutely amazing to watch. Strike, Freedom, Impulse, anything, pales in comparison, because Exia is strictly close combat. Even Strike and Impulse had guns and other artillery for back up. Exia always goes in for close range martial arts type kills.

After CB attained total pwnage, the side that CB wasn't fighting against thanked them for the free ride and tried to chase after the scattering enemies. In a flash, Setsuna dismembers them, and the watching Lockon - mysteriously - releases a sigh of relief.

As the battle concludes, enigmatic faces utter that CB will keep fighting, concentrating the hatred, until all of it is directed against themselves.

Matyrdom. Hmm.

It ends with Setsuna flying back to ship and clashing with Graham Acre.

I love the way this episode follows up on the first. It tones down a lot of the theatrics because it's no longer introduction, but it builds up a lot of background. It takes its time developing the characters, which is nice, and I'm sort of liking how they're revealed together, rather than each character get their dedicated "development" episode. The Gundams are pretty overpowered in this one when it went up against the old MS's. I'm hoping the Union Flag (new generation MS) will hold up much better because otherwise this will be Freedom-like spammage.

Can't wait til episode 3~~ *Fangirls Graham Acre* Hope he turns into a Treize-ish-but-not-as-evil character =D
