I went all "squeeeeee" when I saw this in volume 10 of Host Club. Thanks so much
a_cryptic for letting me kill the book's spine scan them!!!
Excuse the awkward translations. I had to make the text fit. I hope they're visible too...*remembers to scan pics in >150dpi next time*
First up is this beatific fanart from Hino Matsuri:

Squeeeeeee~~~~~~~~~~~ It actually took me several looks to register why the art looked sooooo bloody familiar (I usually ignore the fanart section) and then my next thought was....."uh, why are there Vampire Knight people here?"....and then my next thought was "hey! I've never seen these people in VK!"
LOL...I love Hino-sensei's art (she wrote Marchen Prince (MeriPuri) and Vampire Knight), but I can never imagine Tamaki looking like that. Don't be so harsh on yourself, Hatori-sensei! Your art is perfect for portraying the sort of narcissist yet kind-hearted, intelligent and yet extremely idiotic Tamaki-dono!
Secondly, a cutesy Hani-senpai from Higuchi Tachibana:

Higuchi Tachibana writes Gakuen Alice (and an earlier work that I've never been able to find), which is published in Hana to Yume, a "sister" magazine to LALA (which publishes Host Club and Vampire Knight). For me, Gakuen Alice seems to be one of those under-appreciated shoujo manga. Because of the cutesy art and characters, people overlook it and miss the rather imaginative setting and plot.
But...scanlating this...made me remember exactly why I took so long to get into this manga. So much text! Everywhere! And in such small writing as well! Gaah! It was a nightmare scanlating this, no wonder it was so slow to get picked up by fan groups and professional groups!!
Hehehe...but Hani-senpai just looks like Ruka-pyon with fluffy hair...aww *glomps*
I'd squeeeeeee again if Takaya Natsuki (Furuba) or Tsukuba Sakura (Penguin Revolution) ever sends in Host Club fanart~~~~~~~
