"underground" church indeed
27 Apr 2007 10:37 pmIn recent years, China's religious authorities and the Vatican have clashed over the appointment of bishops.
Rome has said it wants the final say.
China's state-approved church has said it controls bishops, and the government has accused the Holy See of "interfering in internal affairs" by demanding authority over bishops.
Fuck this. Why does the Chinese government always try to shove politics up religion's proverbial ass?
Internal affairs. W.T.F. Why should a government that is the antithesis of God and religiousness and Christianity demand the right to interfere with the Christian church's internal affairs?
Christians have a right to keep their religion pure and free from getting dumped with assholes who probably don't give a rat's ass about what Christianity is.
Any time when religion starts kissing politics' ass (or vice versa) is when things go wrong.

I personally am so very against any form of influence religion over politics so I guess I can empathise with China's policy here (if that is indeed why they want to appoint their own bishop).
