Was playing Balderash yesterday with a bunch of friends. Had to guess what "horbgorble" meant. Aside from having first guessed it to be "wander around aimlessly" because I thought I heard that word before, and that was then second-guessed to the incorrect "a drum made out of goatskin"...
I can't believe I was so braindead and unobservant!!
We were the last group to put in our guess. The first group had guessed "wander around aimlessly" and every other group had guessed for the drum answer. The rules said you can't vote for your own misleading clue, which mean the drum one was obviously made up by the first group!!! Because they couldn't vote for it!!!!
ARGH. Can't believe I was so stupid!!!
It's not really a matter of winning, because the game kinda dwindled into nothingness, but it's something that was so obvious that I - or someone in our group - should have noticed!
I'm only making such a big deal out of it because I keep feeling that these days I just walk through life in some kind of caffeine-deficient zombie state. It bothers me that I can't think on my feet, that if I get into some kind of unexpected situation my mind won't snap to it quick enough.

Date: 2006-09-25 10:40 am (UTC)me too :/ the times it takes me to react to anything are pretty awful; by the time I turn off the automatic pilot system, whatever event I should have reacted to is usually over.

Date: 2006-09-26 07:12 am (UTC)I feel like that too though, although it's more like a caffeine sustained zombie state when you're running purely on caffeine and adrenaline, and my mind still doesn't work.
*sigh*... I think uni takes a lot of you.
