"Jack was a true adventurer. Few were the evenings in which he did not go forth from his bedchamber in search of the unexpected and egregious."

OMG. If this is really what the Japanese schools used as their listening test, their English level is better than mine. I had to listen to it 5 times to get the last word (because the bad recording sounded like "egreget". Damn American accent, damn it.)

Oh honestly, the language is so damn bombastic and outdated. It sounds like some 19th century tuppenny crime novel.

I should stop watching all this stuff ==; I'm not even doing Japanese this sem.

hehehe.. apparently the english language exam potential immigrants have to take before immigrating to australia is insanely hard (i.e. the "average australian" would not pass it).. and for some reason british citizens etc don't have to take the exam (but chinese and indian citizens do..) :o!

..whatever happened to the removal of the white australia policy? :/

btw what does bombastic mean? o_o

Pompous in speech or writing, apparently, of which I am often guilty XDDD

Aye, I had a look at the IELTS (one of the possible exams for immigrants to take) sample papers. It's not hard, per se, but it's really dry and boring, but the questions are fairly...straightforward, I think.

Ah well. Define "average Australian". There's a lot of people (well, define a lot too, I guess XD) of older generations who didn't finish high school *shrugs*

mm, "average australian - someone who was educated in australia"

yes, it's a reasonable exam (unlike those ones decades ago XD), but the number of points you can get from the exam has been lowered (if you're from china or india. british citizens automatically get full points without taking the exam) unless your mark is a statistical outlier (in a high achieving sort of sense). and outliers are.. well.. they're not common, by definition.

oh and btw, my birthday party is starting right now, if you want to have a look.. the situation has changed.. and it'd be unfair if it started on the 16th.

I discontinued Japanese because the 2nd year Japanese subjects are worth freaking 8 credit points and the faculty is a tightarse about how many credits students can have. Might you be in the same boat?

My sister's (yes, she is another fan) is downloading My Boss My Hero. Can't wait to see it!!

No, I couldn't do Japanese this semester because I have to do all these science subjects. All the good science subjects are in the second semester T__T

Hehe, tell me how you like it!
