Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

D is like, my favourite letter!!! LOL!!!
...Only in terms of names >_>; On a completely related term, the letters J and K are also my favourite...or at least, many characters I like start with them...
Darkest Road, The: I still remember how I wept rivers and...erm, other large metaphoric bodies of water when I read this book in year 8. To add here are Diarmuid and Darien, the very fact I still remember their names is a feat in itself. Yeah, I'm terrible with names.
Daffyd and Damien and Dominick and Dragon and Jik and Jes and Matthew, just for good measure. The Farseekers made me cry more than Ashling. I have manually and personally de-existed The Keeping Place. Man...she better finish writing the damn thing T__T I want Matthew to come back!!! Matthew was sooooo sweet T__T He was so much sweeter than Rushton, who somehow reminded me of Tamahome (archetypal romantic hero) and therefore pissed me off no end. Gah. Daffyd was so sweet too T___T I hope he finds his...er, family, I think it was. God, my memory sucks.
Darren Hayes, and Savage Garden, whose songs will ever remind me of childhood. Or something vaguely sentimental like that. Whose eloquent lyrics far surpass the likes of "Ha-ha" (don't ask) and "I'm blue da ba di da ba" (don't get me started)......
Discworld and Death and Detritus, who is such a big lump of adorable rock. Or maybe adorable lump of big rock? Or big rock of adorable lump? And who doesn't need a pisspot! Cos Vimes said so! And Death is...Death. Oh, and the Disorganiser. The imp, at least, is momentarily funny. Douglas Adams, yes, I realise he's completely unrelated, is also a hilarious author.
Sara Douglass, whose Axis and Dragonstar trilogies will serve as continuous reminders that some fantasies can be as crap as...those second-rate unpublished Mary-Sue writings online (I'll be fair - at least I won't need to go to her books with a giant red marker and circle out all the grammatical errors: which brings me to the unrelated peeve about how much stupid mistakes Honi Soit, our student newspaper, makes......and that this year it's reading like a weekly bitch session). Dragonstar is the reminder of all that is horrible about making unwarranted biblical allusions. *Shudders*. I hate Dragonstar, and his schizophrenic mood-swings between coward and godliness. Grr. ...Oh great, now I've got m'self started. Wait about 50 minutes while I go off to blow off the steam.

Darksong...okay, the really crappy reason that this is even in here is because of the name Solen, which is about as much as I can recall from that book (and that he looked vaguely Asian...well, he looked exactly like an Asian guy, so I guess that means he looks vaguely Asian?). ...And Solen, like Rushton, was...rather...ugh... ...UGH...(Nothing more uncomfortable than getting character names from different stories overlapping...) I like Carmody's main male characters more often in her shorter works. I do want to finish reading that trilogy though, if only to get an idea of the body count. Har Har. (I do mean it quite candidly *snerk*)
Dorothy Dunnet, whose Lymond series I am currently reading. How old is he again? ...Not that it matters.
Dariayle and Darius (and Daruthlee, I guess, but he doesn't seem to count much...). Don't ask me who they are (you can smirk if you know =P). Next Assignment must be the only, er, long thing where none of the characters' names start with D....
Drawing (finally! A word that's not a proper noun!) form of escapism? And...creating? I guess?
Dreams: I like swashbuckling dreams. Or dreams where there's all these things variously blowing up or burning down... Unless it involves people I personally know, in which case it's more a nightmare than a dream. Which reminds me...last night I had a dream about Bleach. I should really stop watching that anime. LOL.
Speaking of Bleach, I've noticed that the kanji names are really interesting. Apart from Ichigo's name, which is explained (protecting the one thing important to him), other names are quite...well, interesting:
Kuchiki (Rukia's last name): rotten wood
Hitsugaya Toushirou (the 10th Captain who looks about 13): "hi" is sun, which is kind of strange to have for a guy whose power is ice. On the other hand, Toushirou is "winter-lion-man", which is more fitting.
Aizen: "blue dye"
Ishida Kuryuu (glasses guy): (Ishida is a common enough last name) "rain dragon"
...Some day shall dig up all their names and try to make some sense out of them...
There is method in the madness! ...I hope...
I'm really interested in knowing what Ichigo's dad's name is in kanji. It's "Isshin" I think...I wonder what the "shin" is. I doubt its his real (shinigami) name though, otherwise the shinigami in Soul Society would have gone ballistic when they heard "Kurasaki" (like they did when they heard "Urahara", for one thing)
In other news, I've also found out that Ryan on The O.C. is born on 19th March...
Before any of you fall out of your seats, NO I do NOT watch that thing. I have attempted to and given up about 10 minutes into it. NO, I did not voluntarily sit down to watch it, it just happened to be on right after Futurama, and I wasn't going to move my butt...until I go so bored by it...
...Though I'd rather it be Ryan than Marissa ==;;;;
