As for this manga, out of pure morbid curiosity, I downloaded volume 10 (the last volume) and read it.
And gagged.
I can't believe that it's "the best-selling shoujo manga" with "over 4 million units sold".
It's far-fetched and incredible. Obviously I'm not exactly in the best of positions to comment on sibling relationships, let alone twin relationships, as I have no sibling, but I think it's utterly bizarre and disgusting that two twins, grown up together would find their relationship turning sexual.
I may need to read volume 9 too, but that's not going to happen as I don't want to waste my bandwidth to put myself through the suffering. Apparently the boy and girl are twins born of different fathers but the same mother.

If I could be bothered checking the number out, it's sheer statistical improbability. The only way this might have occurred plausibly is if they were IVF babies.

Sheer statistical improbability. Impossibility, I'd say. I think there's something about male semen that's supposedly spermicidal to other sperm...or maybe that wasn't in humans. The point is, men on a purely biological level are extremely possessive of their mate, having supposedly evolved ways in which they ensure the fertilisation of the woman by their own sperm and not another man's.
Not sure if anyone watched Veronica Mars, but when she heard that she was probably Duncan Kane's sister, she pulled over on the highway and puked.
You'd have to be really really deprived to even want to hit on your own sibling, and people don't just...develop that way. There are many things that happen in life that will deter you from falling in love with your sibling, whether it's moral education from your elders or just simple contact with other people your own age that dilute out your attachment to your sibling. Unless there's some severe trauma from contact with non-family members, it's unlikely that siblings would be so attached to each other that they're willing to proceed into sexual levels. And yes, they had sex, many times. In fact, when they supposedly "broke up" in the end, the brother wanted to remember the sister by the sex they had. W.T.F. Oh yeah...they obviously found their way back into each other's arms again, 10 years later, and the author happily proclaiming that it's a...happy ending. W.T.F.x2.
It's not like I haven't seen incest in manga before *cough*CLAMP*cough*Kaori Yuki*cough* but I'm irritated at the "ordinariness" of it all, as though it was so matter-of-fact that a pair of twins growing up in a fairly normal suburban home would fall in love with each other and be willing to have hot love sex all the time. Both CLAMP and Kaori Yuki at least give it morbid and tragic overtones, as it deserves.
And to make matters worse, it's the standard stereotyped irritating shoujo pairing again, with the guy supposedly really intelligent and good at everything and the girl just fricken bloody useless and brainless.
It's seriously topped my list of "shoujo manga that irks".
Even on a purely art-based perspective, the art isn't that great. It's nice, but often inconsistent and...lacks confidence?
Rating: Should go straight into the recycling bin. At least volume 10 should.
That's why I hate shoujo smut. Ugh. And I don't think Boku Imo is even counted as smut.
PS: I should have guessed that Love Monster was shoujo smut v__v;;; Never download kiddish looking manga again just because it's popular with sexually frustrated teens and it looks innocent.

怎麽說呢~霸王戀人是另一個層次吧 ~~;; 完全是 soft porn. The drawings and plot are made to be titillating, and in that respect, it appeals to a lot of shoujo-smut fans. But Boku Imo isn't even...titillating ==;;; At least volume 10 wasn't....they kind of just skimmed through the sex, where as Shinjo Mayu focuses a lot on the physical side of things ~~;
