What's going on =0=;;;;; At least Tojo Kabachi!! is hovering at 9.1%. Is the TV watching era truly over in Japan?? *Cues ominous music* Honestly I'm more surprised about TK!! being so high and BM2 being so low than I am about Yamanade or Hidarime (oi)

Edit: Before I get pelted by Kame fans (again), I'd like to say one can see Kame is doing his best in a drama that is pretty poorly written. The comedy is subdued, it doesn't stick to its goth/punk rock origins, the romance is jerking along too fast, it doesn't have enough "eyecandy/fanservice" moments...therefore it fails to properly cater for any of the audience groups. The plot's not funny enough to be pure comedy and not realistic enough to take seriously. The whole thing comes across lacklustre, and I think a lot of it is the fault of the script, not the actors.

If it makes anyone feel better, most of the comments on Japanese (non-JE) forums that were negative about the drama had positive things to say about Kame's performance.



Spent 9-5 at the eye clinic today, which ends up being practically a 12 hour day for me because of travel time. I just want to get all my forms signed and then I don't have to worry about sitting there watching people fiddle with slit lamps =___=; I mean it's not technically a bad experience, because all the staff there is soooo nice (unlike other departments I've heard ==;) but it gets so boring because there's nothing to do except.......watch people fiddle with their slit lamps. Talking to patients is nice, and for some reason they tend to be a lot friendlier with students than doctors.............muahaha.

Ophthals have such a nice day ==; They start at 9:30 and then they finish at around 12, and they bum until 1:30 and go til about 5:30. Arrrrh. I want to be an ophthal just for the hours LOL.

But honestly I agree. Looking at it subjectively, I can see why it's doing kind of badly. I mean, the plots barely have any climax, it sort of flatlines the whole way through, the antagonists so far have been disappointing, the characterisations are pretty one dimensional and like you said, there's not enough fan service. I mean, there's 4 "flower boys", if they inject some homoerotic tension in there somewhere, I'm sure the ratings will go up. I mean, look at Gokusen! ROFL! To be honestly, the four of them barely even interact enough. Like, you can't really tell what the relationship between the four of them are. The only thing we know about their relationship is that they all live in the same house. The little boy has more interaction with Kyouhei than the other three boys combines...

Yeah, the only good thing that comes out of this is that people tend to approve of Kame. As long as this doesn't affect Kame getting more dramas in the future, I don't really care about the ratings anymore.

Oh yes, when I heard about the Yamanade casting I predicted that the ratings were going to be bad and got bricked by random Kame fans I never knew existed =0=; I'm a Kame fan! But that doesn't mean I'm just going to be blind about his flaws!

The funny thing about Kame is that apart from ratings, he does so well in everything else Orz Like the merchandise sales for his dramas are apparently pretty high (e.g. KnS photobook), critical reviews of his acting are still fairly positive (although obviously not gushing), people in the industry (not just actors but directors and producers and staff etc) often speak fondly of him without being prompted, and needless to say he has a lot of fans. It's just that his ratings are not going up >_>;;

Honestly, I WAS hoping this drama would somehow negate all the bad ratings he's had in the past couple of years. But after the latest episode, where the story/writing/editing STILL hasn't picked up, I'm losing hope. -_-

Yeah, that is strange. Like people talk about Kame's popularity going down, but honestly, I think he's pretty consistent. I think Jin has more fluctuations than Kame in terms of popularity. But yeah, I did hear that Kame's usually on pretty good terms with the crew, he's such a good boy. XD

Honestly, I'm not surprised at all by the ratings drop for Yamato, because the way the story is going is atrocious ><. However, it is dropping a little more than I anticipated, but I just hope Kame doesn't beat himself over it this time because really, he just needs to learn to pick a better script ><. I just want him to stay away from romance, because no offense, Kame and romance don't seem to go well together XDDDD.

But Bloody Monday 2... that one I'm a little too surprised, since the original had such a large following ><.
