kuroshitsuji anime confirmed!
24 Jul 2008 12:49 amWith the number of fujoshi on my F-list I'm surprised no one's yet mentioned Kuroshitsuji, a manga suspiciously derivative of Count Cain's pseudo-shounen-ai-set-in-unrealistic-Victorian-era, with lots of gorgeoussss drooool and wangst. Well, I haven't gotten that far yet, but I'm sure there'll be wangst, if it anywhere resembles Count Cain
Anyway, it's been slated for anime adaptation! Keep an eye out, all ye 耽美腐女, you know who you are! =P
Yesterday I dug out the only volume of Count Cain I had, for want of nothing better to read (I'm sure there's some syntax problem in this sentence but my brain has taken an early break), and I now see what one reviewer meant when he said Yuki Kaori has let her staffers take over a lot of the drawings.
Her art in Count Cain (volume 9) is ironically sooooooo much better than Fairy Cube...........
Crisp clean lines, her trademark deep hooded eyes and chiselled cheeks...aiiie...when I looked at Fairy Cube a while ago I was suddenly overwhelmed by dubiousness that I had admired her art for so long.
But after re-reading Count Cain.........no wonder I admired her art *_______*
I really want Bloodhound damn it!! Why does Kino refuse to stock it ToT
Ahahaha...I realised I never said what my main art influences were. Yoshizumi Wataru (Mintna Bokura, Marmalade Boy, Ultramaniac, etc) was the first artist I really tried to emulate. I don't really like her style any more, but I guess she was a good starting point for some good standard shoujo character designs. After that it was most prominently Yuki Kaori (Angel Sanctuary, Count Cain, Fairy Cube), because I really liked the way she drew cheekbones XD
I got the way I drew profiles (side of the face) from Yukiru Sugisaki (D.N.Angel), and add in a dash of CLAMP (too much stuff) and Arina Tanemura (Full Moon wo Sagashite) for eyes (I know...the two have completely different styles for eyes...but nevertheless) and....voila!
Though I really like Vampire Knight art, I've actually never tried to emulate it (nor do I think I ever will). And I practically have no shounen influences! How sad! ...Not my fault they all look ugly (except Death Note and Hikaru no Go, but that's beyond my level XD)
I do not like Fruits Basket art =___= Especially towards the end. Which meant I disliked everything about Furuba towards the end except Yuki's newly acquired evilness...muahahaha!
Once upon a time, I might have liked Kyou more before it became obvious how biased the mangaka was towards him.
