22 Nov 2005 11:27 amOut of pure curiosity, I actually watched the last bit of Australian Idol last night >_>;;;
The best singer was that kid...Ryan or something. He had beautiful control over his voice, even if the style may seem out-dated.
As for Kate and Emily...hmm...neither of their voices were "unusual", as it were. It may have been the fact that we weren't there live, it may have been the songs Emily chose, but I felt Kate was much better as a singer. Emily was naturally gifted with a great voice and a great range, but it annoyed me that when she went high, instead of singing it, she was just screaming the note out. She had less control over her voice, slipped off-tune a few times (though not too noticeable)...and yes, the high notes really annoyed me. Or maybe her voice is naturally shrill like that. Kate also managed to bring a lot more emotion into her songs, but that may just be because she chose 2 ballads instead of the tuneless pop song Emily chose ~~;
I just really really dislike people who shriek out high notes. Gah.
