DAMN CLAMP

mayoraasei...DAMN CLAMP!!!
I don't know how many times I've said it since starting to read X (which still reigns as the one manga that got the most DAMN CLAMP's yet, mainly because it went into permanent hiatus on the biggest WTF-est cliffhanger in manga history).
They have to be the only mangaka that I read consistently without any assurance of the main characters still being alive in the end (or the main characters still being the same main characters, or the main character won't wish they were dead instead).
This also continues the trend that all my favourite CLAMP characters have the most screwed up plot lines/personal histories possible (in relative terms, as some of their series are more screwed up than others). And no, Watanuki getting his eye eaten doesn't even measure up.

About 10 chapters back, in one of those screwed up scenes that's either CLAMP resorting to one of their own cliches or just making fun of their own cliche, Fai got his eye poked out. WTF. That takes the eye-poked-out-toll to at least 6......
And then he turned into a vampire. To avoid repeating myself ad nauseum, I'll drop the WTF from now on.
And noooooooow...........................ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It clears up a lot of things about his relationship with Ashura. I had no idea there was a "OMGFaiWasRaped" theory going around, but that's yaoi fangirls for you. For 18 volumes we thought he was running from Ashura in fear of vengeance........
Turns out he was just protecting Ashura from getting shishkebabed by himself, which he then does to Sakura, which wouldn't have happened if Evil!Clone!Syaoran didn't poke his eye out because then his power wouldn't have been less than Sakura's.
..........................................DAMN CLAMP.
Although that intrigues me because it suggests that Real!Syaoran is weaker than Sakura?
