As Cry As Huang jianxiang
At first, I goggled at it and thought, "TF?! People actually bothered writing such a long-winded reply?!?!"
About 3 sentences down, I noticed something rather...fascinating about the phrasing.
Let's just say it looks like it had crawled out of Babelfish.
Take this jewel for example (which I managed to pick at a glance...so if anyone wants to troll, I'm sure there are plenty more gems out there!): Takes advantage of own seniority the person are more and more many, obviously is you is unable to adapt, you actually said is revolutionary's mistake.
*Thumps on the ground laughing head off*
The person are more and more many!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!! That's got to be a classic!!!!
Ahhhhh *sigh* It's so sad *wipes tears of laughter from corners of eyes*
It's interesting to note the comments on the SMH site. There seems to be about four sides. Overwhelmingly, it consisted of Chinese immigrants with bad English apologising profusely in a typically Chinese way. On the other side are...supposedly Chinese people denouncing the apologists for fake Chinese. Oh please...I'm sorry to be frank about this, but only real Chinese immigrants can achieve the sort of authentic fobby English apparent in both sides of this particular argument.
Then there are the occasional non-Chinese-background Australians (yeah, just to be anal about this, because the population doesn't consist of "Aussies" and "Chinese", because guess what? I'm "Chinese" but I'm also "Aussie", as are many of my friends) who try to placate both sides in manner of kind mothering hen cuckooing that "one guy's stupidity is not one nation's shame" or something to that effect.
As myself...I find all this highly amusing. The guy's an idiot, for sure. The hasty apologies are touching, but barely necessary. I don't apologise for someone else's stupidity, whether or not he shares my skin colour...just as I don't apologise for anyone else's stupidity/bitchiness/prejudice/homocidal tendencies/political warpedness...whether or not said being shares my birthday, my ethnicity, my gender or my species.
Especially the last. I'll be apologising every second of the day in manner of Ricchan from Furuba if I had to apologise for every idiocy mankind (oh, and WOmankind...just to be...god, anal...don't get me started on that rant) has ever committed.
And I'm sure Australians don't need the reassurance that this guy doesn't represent the opinions of everyone in China.
Good god...even our elected prime minister has a trying task representing the majority of Australians.
