GAMSAT

Scores came out today.

Oh boy, I hope I can pass the interview =__=||| That's the most weighted component for many unis. And I HATE interviews! What to wear?! What to say?!

And it bothers me that I haven't met any Asians in the grad med program at USyd.

I'm starting to think I might have manic depression. Was on such a high only 2 hours ago. Is now depressed and pessimistic and generally paranoid about the future.

Edit: I also think this proves that those preparatory courses for GAMSAT are utter bullshit, because I get around 30% for their papers and get around 70% in the ACER (official) practice papers. Don't waste your money people! Honestly *shakes head* I'm so glad I didn't do the course.

OMG OMG OMG CONGRATS!!! I heard the test was so hard! Ooh good luck with the interview!!!

BTW to be categorised with bipolar, not only do you need to have one manic phase, but major depression lasting two weeks. I think you're just happy yet unsure about how things would pan out.

CELEBRATE!

OOoh~~ Congrats on passing! Good luck for the interview. Just convince them why you deserve to get into medicine. ;) Why you will be the best person for it. Like, you love helping people, etc. ^^; You'll do fine. XD What to wear? Wear formal-ish clothes, like what you would wear if you're working in a highly presitigue (sp?) firm. Hmm... I guess? When is your interview?

Some questions they could possibly ask you..
Why do you want to do medicine?
What are your career aspirations? (Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years time)
Can you give an example of when you had deal with internal conflict? Such as having a disagreement with another person. How did you resolve it?

etc...

Doubt you have manic depression. People with manic depression can't control their emotions, and well... ^^;;; It's generally a lot more serious than that, and normally, can be pretty obvious. I agree with dracaena, you are probably just stressed and worried. Maybe a little insecure about what the future would hold, especially since you're in your final year of uni, but that is normal. Don't worry too much about the future as you won't know what would come. Just try and deal with the present. ;)

Why does it bother you to have not met any asian med grads yet?

Congrats :)...That's really quite impressive.

It's unfortunate that I refuse to lie during my interviews though -_-, but other than that I'm getting pro at interviews.

Wear business casual - neat, plain skirt/black pants and a shirt should do it. Just look really presentable and immaculate rather than worry about what to wear. If you want to make more of an impression wear warm-toned colours like russet red, royal blue, dark green etc if you can stand it ^^.

As for interviews... yeah prepare a little before and. They will most likely to ask conflict resolution questions, your strength/weakenesses questions, how you interact with people, how you deal with being in a difficult situation/difficult people, how you deal with stress and workload, why you want to work in this industry etc.

Just... be prepared to say some negative things about yourself but turn it to your advantage! :)... like what you have learned from bad experiences and how you're going to improve in the future etc...

Basically they just want to make sure you're a personable real person (not a book-burrowing nerd only) who's in med for the right reason: wanting to help people etc

Goodluck, sorry I rambled on so much

ooh! I leave lj for a minute (ok, maybe a week or so ^^|) and you get into med? congrats fenglet! :D!

(hmm, it seems on closer inspection you actually got an interview for it.. bah, this process is so long o__o *shrug* I have confidence that you'll get in though, so it's pretty much the same thing :D)

so.. congrats again! XD now if only I could get an interview too... (but for stats, not for med)
